How do I enable Javascript in Internet Explorer?

To enable Javascript in Internet Explorer 7:

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on the Tools button


3. Under the Tools menu, click Internet Options
4. Click on the Security tab


5. In the Security level for this zone box, click on the Custom level button.


6. Scroll toward the bottom of the Setting box to Scripting and check the Enable radio button.


7. Click OK twice to close the dialogue box.
8. Click the Refresh button or hit F5

To enable Javascript in Internet 6.x:

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu
3. In the Internet Options dialog box, select the Security tab.
4. Click the Custom level button at the bottom. The Security settings dialog box will pop up.
5. Under the Scripting category, enable Active Scripting, Allow paste options via script and Scripting of Java applets.
6. Click OK twice to close the dialogue box.
7. Hit Refresh

How do I enable and disable the AutoComplete feature using Internet Explorer?

The AutoComplete feature for Internet Explorer suggests possible matches for entries you type in the Address toolbar, a Web page form, or a user name or password box on a Web page. Suggestions made by the AutoComplete feature are displayed in a list as soon as Internet Explorer starts recognizing familiar patterns. If a suggestion in the list matches your criteria for that field, click the suggestion or press the down arrow key to display a list of suggestions, then press Enter. To modify your settings for the AutoComplete feature or clear all items from the list of form or password suggestions, follow these steps:

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on the Tools button and select Internet Options

3. Click on the Content tab and then select Settings under AutoComplete


4. Check the appropriate boxes to enable or disable the AutoComplete functions. Once you have made your selections, select OK.

The History folder contains links to sites recently visited. These are displayed in the URL address drop down box on your browser.

Set Up and Clear History in Internet Explorer for Windows:

To clear the list of sites that you have visited in Internet Explorer (for Windows), follow the instructions outlined below.

Setting Up/Clearing History

1. Click on Tools and select Internet Options.


2.Under Browsing History, click the Delete button.

3. On the Delete Browsing History window, click Delete history under the History header.

4. Click Yes to confirm the deletion of your history of visited websites.


5. Click the Close button in the Delete Browsing History window.

6. Click OK in the Internet Options window

How do I use the Content Advisor?

Internet Explorer Content Advisor is a means of controlling the type of content your computer can access over the Internet. After enabling Content Advisor, only rated sites that meet or exceed your established criteria can be displayed. This can be helpful if you have children in your household that you wish to prevent from viewing inappropriate material over the Web. Please note that this document applies to Windows 98 only.

Setting up Content Advisor and creating security limits

1. On the Windows Taskbar, click on Start > Settings > Control Panel

2. In Control Panel, double-click the Internet Controls icon to display the Internet Properties form

3. On the Internet Properties form, click on the Content tab

4. In the Content Advisor area, click Enable to display the Content Advisor form. (If you've already enabled Content Advisor, click Settings, and then type the supervisor password. The Content Advisor form will be displayed).

5. Click a category in the list, then drag the slider to set the limits you wish to use. Repeat this process for each category you wish to limit, and then click OK.

6. If a supervisor password has not already been set up for your computer, you will be prompted to create one

7. To allow others to view restricted content, in the Content Advisor form, click the General tab, and then select the following check box: Supervisor Can Type A Password To Allow Users To View Restricted Content

8. To allow others to view unrated content, select the following check box: Users Can See Sites That Have No Rating. Click OK. If a supervisor password has not already been set up for your computer, you are prompted to create one.

Tips: Not all Internet content is rated. If you choose to allow other people to view unrated sites on your computer, some of those sites could contain inappropriate material.To learn more about site ratings, click here.

How do I add a page to my Favorites list using Internet Explorer?

1. Go to the page you would like to add as a Favorite.
2. Click on the "Add to Favorites" icon in the upper-left corner of your Internet Explorer browser.


3. Select the "Add to Favorites" option from the menu
4. The "Add a Favorite" window will open up. From this window you can change the name of the page you are adding, create a new folder for the URL, or simply add the page to your Favorites list.

How do I set Internet Explorer as my default browser?

When opening Internet Explorer, if you do not receive a prompt to select the application as your default browser, follow the directions below to access settings for Internet Explorer.

1. Open Internet Explorer

2. Click Tools from the top of the screen and select Internet Options

3. Select the Programs tab

4. Place a checkmark in the box next to Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser and click Apply

5. If the box already contains a check, remove the check by clicking on it, click Apply, recheck the box and click Apply again

6. Click OK

7. Close all open Internet Explorer windows

8. Re-launch Internet Explorer

9. A confirmation window should appear that prompts you to select Internet Explorer as your default browser

10. If desired, remove the check in the box next to Always perform this check when starting Internet Explorer

11. Click Yes

12. Internet Explorer should open and now be established as your default browser.
